Description //

Censored Meerkat was a design originally created as a guest image in the short-run Sheffield based magazine 'Clunge' - a magazine full of artwork, short stories, anecdotes and reviews (not porn as the name might suggest). Not long after submitting for this I printed a version onto canvas - duplicates are available below from Artflakes or by emailing me directly.

Description //

This animation was created over the Christmas holiday period of 2007. I was using it as a test to see how I could link audio to layers in After Effects - this was all keyframed manually for accuracy.

The illustration is based on this poster by Gianni Rossi.

Description //

An illustration I created as a birthday present for my sister in 2007 - taking inspiration from Graffiti-style characters, rock music (of which she is into) and my cat, I created this character and screenprinted it A3.

I'd quite like to continue this as a series as a set of screenprints to be made available.

		<description>University // Illustration, Animation, Music
February 2008

Description //

This project was submitted for my graduation project - it all started with an illustration and a fascination with visuals and sound working in harmony. Initially the animation was intended as a narrative based piece, with a character discovering he can play music and learning to play music with others, though during the process of linking the sound to visual elements, I realised that I had constructed the beginnings of what could easily be a simple interactive music sequencer that could be picked up by children with relative ease. Referencing synaesthesia as an inspiration, I linked up each musical note (A through to G#) to a colour, and then each different sound to a shape - allowing the music to be 'seen' as it is being played much easier than a conventional sequencer.

<description>Proximity BBDO // Animation, Design, Direction
June 2011

Description //

For the Proximity awards I wanted to create some titles that overall just looked pretty nice. Using the grid layout and a few elements from Tasty Visuals I looked at a kind of parallax styling for the scenes. Initially I started with a palette of browns and a nice serif font intended to give it a traditional feel - then adding some sharper more geometrical elements of brighter colours to contrast this. Whilst I quite liked this look, the client felt it wasn't on brand enough - I then had to incorporate the Proximity colours and then elements from the logo - replacing the triangles with circles.

Description //

** VIDEO COMING SOON **

Inspired by a mix of tribal masks, bird faces and geometric design work - Birdmask visuals is a large set of loops intended for live use; played along with music in clubs or at installations. The outcome is a mesmerising mix of shapes and colours that bounce, grow and appear in time to elements within the music.

The set so far consists of 8 compositions that is made of up 8 layers, with each layer having it’s own 4 clips. Every clips can be mixed with another to create new compositions on the fly; and because of the way they’ve been constructed, can also be retimed to sync with various BPMs whilst playing.

My next steps include recreating all of the visuals in 3D and using a game engine to perform them with. Having seen the power of the Unity engine, I’d like to try and build something that can respond to multiple inputs (MIDI / OSC) all in realtime...

Check out my Aszyk Facebook page for some pics of live shows.

October 2011

Description //

These graphics were produced for an internal presentation for AMV BBDO. They highlight the different roles that AMV plays in certain campaigns - either Centralised, Lead or Local. Depending on what the campaign is, a different animation would be shown.

Centralised:
Where AMV takes the lead on global copy and strategy as well as taking full responsibility for all adaptation and supply to local markets.

Lead:
Where AMV is responsible for the global strategy which is then implemented by the local agencies.

Local:
Where AMV is responsible for UK copy and strategy only, however local agencies have then decided to adopt our strategy/creative for their own market.

<description>AMV LAB // 3D Animation, Direction, Illustration, Music
January 2011

Description //

My first major project in Cinema 4D - a set of idents that would be used to introduce the various areas that the LAB specialises in. The style was based around the isometric scenes produced for ‘Tasty Visuals’ - though this time creating all the elements in 3D; the objects being loosely based around things in and around the LAB. The idea was to step away from the rigid, technical branding of the LAB previously, which relied heavily on a periodic table theme.

Description //

The latest in branding technology™ - A set of 10 animated logos for the LAB. Featuring bright colours, intriguing shapes, slick animations and a varied mix of sounds to appease the eyes and ears.
The logos were all designed in Illustrator before taking the individual parts into After Effects. Each shape was then animated individually to build up a total of 10 compositions. The sound design was the final part, and was crafted in Ableton.
