This is the original illustration created in the 'Crazy Landscape' series - initially intended as a T-shirt design. It was one of my first explorations into colourful fantasy worlds, inspired by graffirti ,doodles and character art - the theme being the cycle of life and death.

A single colour version was made also for screenprinting.See More //

Description //

These are some examples of UI design for a pitch. The company was Garmin - a company with a focus on making high-end GPS equipment.

The area we were specifically pitching for was the sports side of their business. Their GPS sports equipment is great for being able to track exactly where you have run, how far and subsequently how many calories you have burnt off.

These examples show concepts for a new user interface that would integrate within the site as it stands, allowing people to see quickly the data that they want. The panels would all be totally customisable, allowing a user to move them wherever and show different bits of data.

An additional idea was to have the background as a generative piece - the more data someone logged within a day, the more wild and vibrant the background would become.See More //

This was one of my initial digital pieces whilst at AMV. The re-skinning of the Twinings site, with a new header and page theme every 2 months to reflect a different flavour of tea. The site was made to look a lot cleaner and easier to use than the previous site.

Additionally I was asked to illustrate some elements that would form the surround of the webshop (image 4). This was a later addition to the site and unfortunately ended up being coloured in. I much prefer the original inky drawings to the digital edit, they have a lot more of the original charm!See More //

Description //

This was my entry for CPLUV's T-Shirt design competition back in 2007. The theme was 'Find Your Ideal Place'. The story behind my shirt is a little squirrel on the brink of finding his ideal place - Nutopia. My inspiration for it came from my childhood, when I'd spend days in Stanley Park (Blackpool) feeding the squirrels. Oh the days.
My T didn't get printed but it was a finalist. So yay in that respect. I might submit it to Threadless one day...

A short preview loop of a new set of visuals I've been working on that take an analogue approach to the drawing method. They share the same concept as Birdmask Visuals - in the sense that it is largely eometric shapes that are built up to make compositions that apear face-like and somewhat animalistic.

So far the video only shows one of the 'faces' made, there will be more to come. Like with the Birdmask Visuals also, they are to be used as separate layers in a Resolume set - allowing me to perform live with them and create new compositions on the flySee More //

Censored Meerkat was a design originally created as a guest image in the short-run Sheffield based magazine 'Clunge' - a magazine full of artwork, short stories, anecdotes and reviews (not porn as the name might suggest). Not long after submitting for this I printed a version onto canvas - duplicates are available below from Artflakes or by emailing me directly.

This animation was created over the Christmas holiday period of 2007. I was using it as a test to see how I could link audio to layers in After Effects - this was all keyframed manually for accuracy.

The illustration is based on this poster by Gianni Rossi.

An illustration I created as a birthday present for my sister in 2007 - taking inspiration from Graffiti-style characters, rock music (of which she is into) and my cat, I created this character and screenprinted it A3.

I'd quite like to continue this as a series as a set of screenprints to be made available.

		<description>University // Illustration, Animation, Music
February 2008

Description //

This project was submitted for my graduation project - it all started with an illustration and a fascination with visuals and sound working in harmony. Initially the animation was intended as a narrative based piece, with a character discovering he can play music and learning to play music with others, though during the process of linking the sound to visual elements, I realised that I had constructed the beginnings of what could easily be a simple interactive music sequencer that could be picked up by children with relative ease. Referencing synaesthesia as an inspiration, I linked up each musical note (A through to G#) to a colour, and then each different sound to a shape - allowing the music to be 'seen' as it is being played much easier than a conventional sequencer.

<description>Proximity BBDO // Direction, Animation, Design
June 2011

Description //

For the Proximity awards I wanted to create some titles that overall just looked pretty nice. Using the grid layout and a few elements from Tasty Visuals I looked at a kind of parallax styling for the scenes. Initially I started with a palette of browns and a nice serif font intended to give it a traditional feel - then adding some sharper more geometrical elements of brighter colours to contrast this. Whilst I quite liked this look, the client felt it wasn't on brand enough - I then had to incorporate the Proximity colours and then elements from the logo - replacing the triangles with circles.
